I was born and raised in Karachi. Life is a burst of different flavors there. It was like a chicken biryani with the aroma of cardamom and tons of green chilies, which is often followed by a frozen Malai Qulfi made with slow cooked milk with cardamom, thick cream and pistachios. The burning sensation of the green chilies is cooled off with the sweet milky Qulfi and all is well at the end of the day.
In our culture we eat when we are happy, we eat when we are sad, we eat when something is funny and we eat when we are drowned in sorrow. As a child I woke up to the smell of butter fried crispy Parathas and fresh omelets made with onions and spicy greens.
Once we arrived in the United States in 2016, other than our home and friends my kids started missing their Sunday breakfasts of Halwa Puri. So mama came to the rescue! I started making them their favorite breakfast at home. When some of our friends tried it they pushed me to start my own food service.
The combination of high demand of traditional Pakistani food and the lack of time to make these slow cooked flavorful meals gave birth to Bluhaven Caters!
From one order of “home cooked goodness at the doorstep” to many many more started the journey of Bluhaven. We are the solace you find at home after a long day. Hope you enjoy each spoonful.
